Bolton Wanderers takeover OFF with Championship club ‘facing winding-up order and potential 12-point deduction’
Bolton face a winding-up order with a proposed takeover of the Championship club collapsing, according to reports.Sky Sports report that a winding-up petition against Wanderers has been set at the High Court for Wednesday, and if it is successful they could go into administration.Such an outcome would lead to Bolton being deducted 12 points, sending them bottom of the Championship and all but confirming their relegation.A Cheshire-based consortium was expected to complete a buyout of Bolton from Ken Anderson, the club’s current owner, but he remains in charge as of today (Tuesday).Anderson has been hoping to sell Bolton, but talks with the Football Ventures (Whites) consortium have broken down1
Anderson has been hoping to sell Bolton, but talks with the Football Ventures (Whites) consortium have broken down
It is understood the proposed takeover is off, with the buyers pulling out of the deal to leave Anderson with a majority shareholding in the club. The Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust have issued a plea for all parties to work together to ensure the club survives amid questions over its future. The open letter, titled ‘A plea from the heart’, reads: “The current breakdown in negotiations between Mr Anderson and the Football Ventures (Whites) consortium leaves the club governance matters in a precarious state. With the court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, the future of BWFC is, once again, in serious doubt.“In view of this, we are making a plea from the heart for all parties to work together to achieve a resolution. As well as Mr Anderson and Mr Basran (Football Ventures consortium), we implore the other stakeholders and club creditors to show a willingness to achieve a future for BWFC.“Undoubtedly, some compromise will be needed. And all parties have a significant part to play in achieving a solution.
