According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Tony Khan will be the president of AEW and he will play a ‘big part in AEW’, similar to Vince McMahon’s top role in the WWE.With a family fortune estimated to be worth $6.3 billion by Forbes, they have every intention of providing a real alternative to the WWE. Bear in mind they also spent over 98 million in the transfer market for Fulham last summer.The Khan’s had been rumoured to be involved in the formation of a new wrestling company ever since they began filing for trademarks back in November.AEW will be holding a rally at TIAA Field in Jacksonville, Florida next week to announce more details about the follow up to the ultra-successful ‘All In’ event titled ‘Double or Nothing.’The rally also happens to be within a few short miles of the WWE SmackDown taping happening on the same day.According to PWInsider, the group has already had conversations with multiple television networks about a possible TV show in 2019 and they are also said to be actively talking to talent about signing multi-year contracts.Rhodes, 33, left the WWE in 2016 and the American Nightmare has secured Hangman Adam Page to a AEW contract. Fans of The Elite are eagerly awaiting to see if Kenny Omega and Marty Scurll follow suit.The last time the WWE had such a financially powerful rival was back in the Monday Night Wars with WCW. The WWE came out on top of that battle after purchasing their competition in 2001.
