The 59-year-old previously worked alongside Redknapp at four different clubs
Ricky Duncan, the club’s academy manager, and under-23s manager Kevin Maher took charge for Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Shrewsbury, but Bond has now been handed the reins.The 61-year-old has vast experience in the game as an assistant alongside Harry Redknapp at Birmingham, Portsmouth, Tottenham and QPR while he has managed Bournemouth and Hong Kong Pegasus.Southend are in relegation danger with six matches left of the season2

A Southend statement read: “The club has today appointed Kevin Bond as manager for the remaining six games of the season and shall review the position at the end of the season.“Kevin Bond worked closely with Harry Redknapp over an extended 10-year period, accumulating to over 480 games as assistant manager including long periods at Portsmouth, Tottenham and QPR.“As such, Kevin is highly experienced and with considerable knowledge of League One; Kevin will take control of first team matters from today.”
