And, after it emerged Ashley Young will be signing a one-year extension at Old Trafford, Herrera now seems set to follow suit.According to the Daily Mail, talks have been ongoing since last year. However, they are close to reaching a breakthrough which would keep the 29-year-old in Manchester.Asked about his contract situation following Sunday’s win at Leicester, Herrera said: “If I deserve it, I will get it.“I got the player of the year two years ago and, I cannot lie, I feel very good at the moment. I feel in form, I can run a lot and recover the ball and I feel good when I have it at my feet.”Ander Herrera scored again for Man United2
The midfielder joined United in 2014
Herrera signed from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 for a reported 29million fee and has made 181 appearances in all competitions – scoring 19 goals. His fellow Spaniard Juan Mata does not have the same assurances about his future however.According to the same report, it is unclear whether or not the 30-year-old will be offered a new deal at the end of the season, having started just four of Solskjaer’s 11 games in charge.
